Cold storage units for industrial cold production, regardless of their use (frozen products, fresh product maintenance, controlled atmosphere, etc.), consume a lot of electricity, especially if they are used for fresh products like the fruit we have in abundance and quality in our region of Lleida and Huesca. They consume a lot of energy because they are supplied with fresh produce from the fields, and they have to cool it and keep it fresh at a low temperature. If we implement a solar photovoltaic self-consumption system for this industrial cold production industry, it is the perfect match, since we have high consumption just when solar production is at its peak, that is, during the summer months, when it is most needed.
Reducing energy supply costs by implementing an industrial solar photovoltaic self-consumption system can lead to a 56% to 78% reduction in electricity consumption, which, when talking about such high consumption figures, means savings that will ensure that the installation is fully amortized in a period of 3 to 5 years, making the company much more competitive, efficient and profitable.
