INSTALLATION OF EMERGENCY GENERATOR SET AND POWER INCREASE WITH GRID AND SOLAR FIELD
Very close to the area of the large chemical plants in Tarragona lies the small village of Els Garidells. In this case, the 500 kVA generator is located on a large poultry farm, and therefore has high electricity consumption. This farm, which is connected to the electrical grid with a contracted power of 100 kW, also has a 100 kW photovoltaic solar production system, which is completely insufficient for the farm’s consumption standards, especially at certain times of the year. Therefore, the owners opted to install a generator to compensate for these deficiencies. The generator acts as an emergency and power booster system when the electrical grid and the photovoltaic solar power are insufficient to meet the electricity demand. It is a generator designed to operate with both the electrical grid and the photovoltaic supply, without the risk of reverse currents or other issues that can occur with these systems.
The 500 kVA generator set can continuously supply 285 kW of power, reaching up to 320 kWp for a limited time of around 3 or 4 hours of operation, enough to cover the farm’s peak consumption and perfect operation in emergency supply mode.
