ISOLATED AGRO-INDUSTRIAL PHOTOVOLTAIC INSTALLATION

 

We’ve discussed before the use of refurbished materials and equipment, which give machines a second life, prevent environmental waste, and save us a considerable amount of money during installation. In this case, I’m referring to lithium batteries, which originally come from the automotive industry, but after careful selection and proper treatment, can have a lifespan almost as long and efficient as a brand-new battery.

 

Especially for installations with fairly consistent energy consumption, these types of batteries work very well because they have a high capacity for absorbing and releasing energy. However, they are designed to avoid sudden fluctuations in consumption; if such fluctuations are a concern, it’s best to use batteries specifically manufactured for that purpose. The installation we’re presenting here, particularly during the summer, has a continuous consumption of around 18 kWp 24 hours a day. While it decreases slightly at night and during periods of milder weather, this consumption can be considered reasonable for average purposes.

 

Before deciding how we wanted to solve this installation, we considered several scenarios, analyzing their costs, advantages and disadvantages, functionality, estimated lifespan, required efficiency, etc., and after analyzing the whole set, we decided on this solution that we have already used in other installations with great success.

 

Isolated photovoltaic solar installations are almost always linked to an electrical storage system (batteries), and this is an element that must be taken into account, because batteries are equipment that, when well managed, can offer us the possibility of saving environmental costs, and their reuse is undoubtedly the most efficient way to defend this resource that belongs to everyone.

  • 14 refurbished 15.2 kW lithium batteries
  • 3 Three-phase hybrid inverters of 15 kW
  • 1 25 kW grid inverter
  • 1 80 kVA generator set
  • 120 Solar Panels of 590 Wp
