We at Soma-Genpower have been installing this type of system for quite some time now: an off-grid photovoltaic solar system with direct power supply via a frequency inverter. While this system isn’t suitable for every application, it’s unbeatable for systems with electric motors that, due to their use and application, may experience variations in their operating speed without any undesirable consequences. I’m referring to its application in industrial irrigation and ventilation systems, among others. At SOMA-GENPOWER Electricity, we have been applying this technique for decades. We started with industrial irrigation installations, and in recent years we have applied the same technology to ventilation systems in farms, especially cattle farms, confirming the great benefits it brings to the installation. It improves the living conditions of the animals, as it dries the ground where they live and rest, cools the environment, and prevents the animals from suffering heat stress. For this reason, they eat, drink, and rest without problems, which means that in this hot period, they do not lose weight, but rather gain it, resulting in a notable improvement in the economic performance of the farm, and considerable savings in its application, since all the energy comes directly from the sun.
As I said before, this direct photovoltaic solar power system cannot be applied to all supplies, which is why in this particular installation, a supply system using inverters and lithium batteries has also been implemented to power the motors that feed the livestock. In this way, with a constant frequency of 50 Hz, the motors always operate at the same speed and rhythm, without causing problems of jamming or other inconveniences related to a fluctuation in the electricity supply.

- Isolated system with 3 x 800VA inverters + 16.2 kW lithium battery + MPPT250/60
- 4 x 6m 1.5 Hp fans.
