If we can talk about perfect pairings, this would be one of them, photovoltaics with aerothermal energy. This installation combines both, since although it is connected to the grid, it has about 30 kW of solar panels for direct self-consumption, so that the surplus, from the implementation and start-up of the aerothermal system, achieves levels of efficiency in energy consumption that border on perfection. Aerothermal energy and photovoltaic solar energy are two sides of the same coin, since aerothermal systems are capable of producing a lot of heat energy or, on the contrary, refrigeration, with a very small amount of energy input; In other words, the amount of electrical energy that we use to shape the indoor climate to our liking and comfort situation, multiplies by 5 or 8 times (depending on the external climatic conditions and the internal demand) this electrical energy into heat or cooling energy, so that the efficiency of the aerothermal system is very, very high, both in its air conditioning aspect and in producing domestic hot water (DHW). The only indispensable requirement for the good functioning of the aerothermal systems is that they are always running, that they do not lose inertia inside, and that the energy they need for their operation is only in the sense of maintaining the flow of the same, in this way the electrical consumption of the aerothermal system will be very low, and we will not have to worry about having a perfect indoor climate at all times of the year, without having to worry about the dreaded electricity bill.
In this facility, which is a pig farm (therefore with very high energy needs), what has been done is to replace the old 80 kW diesel boilers with aerothermal energy, keeping one of the boilers as an emergency backup for the whole, in this way we ensure that whatever happens we will always have a supply of heat or cold available.
